Timing Belts Wear Out Over Time

The timing belt is one of the hardest working parts of an engine. It helps link the crankshaft to the camshaft, which in turn drives the timing of the valves and pistons. It can rotate hundreds of times a second and is also exposed to extreme temperature changes. While it is made of a very hard rubber, it still wears out over time and needs to be replaced. Our service team at Walt Sweeney Ford in Cincinnati, OH is able to help when it is time.

A worn out service belt will start to slip and fray long before it completely breaks. You may hear a loud squealing sound when you first start your car or experience reduced power and a rougher idling engine and acceleration. These are all signs that it is time for a new timing belt.

If you notice any of the above symptoms, or it is simply time for a timing belt replacement, call our Ford service team to set up an appointment today.
